The Department for Business (BIS) is seeking views on whether the use of non-compete clauses in employment contracts, which prevent people who have left employment from starting their own business, is stifling British entrepreneurship.
The invitation for opinions on non-compete clauses is part of a wider consultation on seven topics that BIS considers may impact business innovation. These include regulation, procurement, intellectual property and access to finance. The consultation closes on 22nd May 2016. The responses will be used to develop a national innovation plan, which will be published by BIS before the end of the year.
