The University of Kent’s Lunchtime Concert

The University of Kent’s Lunchtime Concert series continues this March, offering an exciting range of musical performances that are once again sponsored by Canterbury law firm Furley Page.

The Spring concert programme gets underway on 13th March 2024, with a performance by former BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artist, saxophonist and composer Trish Clowes, and pianist Ross Stanley. The duo has been carefully crafting their unique sound over a number of years, including their own material, arrangements of music from jazz, folk and church organ traditions, and free improvisations.

This concert will include music by Duke Ellington, Nikki Iles, Marcel Dupré, Lili Boulanger, as well as compositions by Clowes and Stanley. The concert will be followed by a workshop with some of the University’s students.

On 27th March 2024, a piano quintet comprising students Kammy Pike (violin), David Glover (violin), Jack Chan (viola), Seb Abbott (cello) and Head of Music Performance Dan Harding (piano) will perform pieces exploring the music of Icelandic multi-instrumentalist Ólafur Arnalds. The performance will be accompanied by a live projection of spectacular landscape photography by award-winning photographer, Molly Hollman.

Jeremy Licence, Managing Partner at Furley Page, said: “We are delighted to continue our long-running support of The University of Kent’s Lunchtime Concert series. The forthcoming spring concert programme contains a variety of exciting genres, performed by highly talented musicians, providing an opportunity for the whole community to hear brilliant live music.”

This spring’s Lunchtime Concert programme will again take place in the Colyer-Fergusson Hall; admission is free, with donations welcome. For more information about the Lunchtime Concert series and other events, please visit https://www.kent.ac.uk/music/whatson
