The Amazon fulfilment centre in Dartford has made a £2,000 donation to Dartford Foodbank.

Dartford Foodbank was founded in 2012 and has been fighting food poverty by supporting people in the local community with emergency food supplies ever since.

The donation from the Amazon Dartford team will be put towards purchasing food, toiletries and household cleaning products, available from the foodbank.

Timea Keszeg, an Amazon employee who nominated the charity for support, commented:

“As we head into the winter months I know there are many families in the local area that will need support from Dartford Foodbank. I am so pleased we could provide the charity with this donation.”

John McEwen, Site Leader at Amazon in Dartford, added:

“Dartford Foodbank is an incredible support system for many people in the local community, especially during the cost-of-living crisis. It is a pleasure to provide this donation and contribute to the community foodbank.”

Sue Swaffer, from Dartford Foodbank, said:

“On behalf of the team of volunteers at Dartford Foodbank, I would like to thank the Amazon team for this donation. It will provide such a boost to the community foodbank and to our efforts to tackle food poverty – we really appreciate the support.”

Community donations and employee volunteering are just two of the ways Amazon supports the communities in and around its operating locations across the UK. Amazon provides students, teachers and parents with free computer science and STEM education programmes through Amazon Future Engineer and has teamed up with charity partner Magic Breakfast to deliver more than seven million healthy breakfasts to children at risk of hunger in disadvantaged areas of the country.

In 2023, Amazon partnered with Comic Relief to become the official home of the Red Nose. Amazon employees across the UK hosted fundraising activities and together with their customers and partners, raised £2.7 million to support those going through the toughest time of their lives.
