Aspiring Futures At The Norton Knatchbull School – How Can You As A Local Employer Support And Inspire The Next Generation?

Here at The Norton Knatchbull School in Ashford we are proud of our long history within the local community tracing back to the 1600s.

Former pupils, governors, families and members of our community have all mutually benefitted from their ties to the school.

Moving forward our vision is to see our links within the local community not only remain strong but to continue to grow and develop so we can help support Ashford and the surrounding areas.

As the Careers and Enterprise Lead, my role is to help embed the key employability skills required for the local and national labour market. This takes part through a variety of activities, events and visits across all years groups leading up to choices made for GCSE, Post 16 and Post 18 options.  This then in turn helps support each of our students to make informed life choices not just about careers, but experiences that can enrich and grow them all into individuals.

Taking a students aspiration and helping to making it a reality is one of the most rewarding parts of my role within the school. Working alongside our dedicated teaching staff, senior leaders and support staff the school continues to offer students across Ashford a unique and personalised journey over the course of 7 years.

As with anything there is always room for improvement, therefore we are looking to partner with local businesses to provide opportunities to enrich our students curriculum, whether its part of our being our alumni, through business talks, site visits, mock interviews, work experience or more we really do hope you can be part of this. More recently with the launch of our own in house business networking event this has opened up opportunities for local businesses to see first hand how we can help support each other in our local community.  We encourage anyone who would like to find out more to contact hvernon@nks.kent.sch.uk.
