Join our next event in the Kent Invicta LIVE series, as Paul Kinkaid, Selfless Leadership discusses the topic of Forensic Leadership and asks you to think about ‘What traces will you leave?’

Through forensically analysing our own leadership approaches, it is possible to leave more positive traces rather than negative. It is possible to demonstrate empirically that employing a Forensic Leadership approach has a positive impact upon employee engagement, staff retention, productivity, profit and wellbeing. We have the ability to choose what traces we leave behind; what traces will you leave?

This event will touch on topics such as;

  • What trace do you want to leave and what trace do you actually leave as a leader? Are they different, and if so, why?
  • What do your followers remember of you?
  • What “evidence” do you want to leave at the scene and what do you want to take with you?
  • What will your leadership legacy be?

Forensic Leadership seeks to demonstrate that great leadership comes from a position of care. It is an adaptation of the Locard Exchange Principle, taught the world over on forensic science and criminal investigation courses. In 1910, Dr Edmond Locard, an esteemed French physician and scientist wrote what was to become known as his Exchange Principle, simplistically, it states that every time the criminal enters the crime scene, they leave a trace which may or may not be found by forensic scientists, but the trace is there.

Locard’s Exchange Principle, beautiful though it is, has usefully been condensed over the years into “Every contact leaves a trace” and it is this condensed version that tends to resonate within the sphere of leadership.

This thought provoking discussion is soon to be a TEDx talk, and certainly not to be missed.

About Paul Kinkaid

Paul believes that true leadership comes from a position of care and demonstrates this with his clients, seeking the best for them at all times. He is a leader who inspires confidence through his calm, thoughtful and empathetic approach underpinned by a wealth of experience amassed in both the military and corporate worlds. He is of that rare breed where people follow him because they know instinctively that they are safe in his charge. Paul brings 20 years’ experience of leading incredibly high performing teams in some of the most challenging environments imaginable. As an Army Lieutenant Colonel Paul commanded soldiers and elite units on five of the World’s seven continents and so knows how to stay calm when the pressure is on. He is wholly aimed at achieving strategic and personal outcomes, or what he calls “the desired end-state” for his clients including EDF Energy, Bilfinger UK, M&C Saatchi, Meteorological Office, University of Kent, RNLI, Dorset & Wiltshire Fire & Rescue, several overseas governmental organisations and a range of private clients.
