At a time of much uncertainty for business, both economically and politically, there is more value than ever in local business leaders coming together to exchange ideas and opportunities.

With this in mind Kent Invicta Chamber, along with its Patrons, stage a series of dinner events to enable like-minded business leaders to gather in an informal and relaxed environment.

There are four events across the year and a select number of senior business people from Kent’s leading businesses and organisations are invited to take part.

The next Kent Business Leaders Dinner will be held on Thursday 21st November from 6.00pm to 9.30pm at Eastwell Manor, Ashford.

Speaker: Roger Gough, Kent County Council
Roger Gough was elected to the post of Leader of Kent County Council in October 2019. Previous to this he was the Cabinet Member for Education and Health Reform, and has served in a variety of Cabinet roles since 2006. He has served as the Conservative Member for Darent Valley since 2005.

He has chaired the Kent Health and Wellbeing Board since it was established in shadow form in September 2011. He worked in investment banking for sixteen years until 2002, mainly as an investment analyst specialising in the banking industry.

From 1988 to 1991, Mr Gough lived and worked in Tokyo as an analyst of the Japanese financial sector; he was subsequently an analyst of the European banking industry. He was a Research Director of Policy Exchange from 2006 – 2009 and served as Rapporteur to Ken Clarke’s Democracy Task Force from 2006 – 2008.

He has written widely on policy issues, chiefly constitutional and local government matters. His study of international comparisons in local government ‘With a Little Help from Our Friends’ was published by Localis in 2009.

His first book, ‘A Good Comrade: János Kádár, Communism and Hungary’ was published in September 2006. For this book he was awarded the Knights Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Hungary. His second book, ‘Account Rendered’ (co-authored with Stuart McCracken and Andrew Tyrie MP) was published by Biteback in July 2011. It examines Britain’s role in the transfer of terror suspects for the American government.

Attendance is by invitation only
Tickets to participate in this next Kent Business Leaders Dinner cost just £52.00 (+ VAT) and are fully inclusive of a drink on arrival, 3 course meal, wine and coffee with petit fours. The Chamber feels that it is vital that our local business leaders come together in this way and this dinner series should not be a profit driven activity, hence the ticket price has been set at ‘cost’.

We hope to encourage all our guests to talk freely and to exchange opinions and ideas in a confidential and supportive environment. As a result, we ask guests to respect that this event is held under ‘Chatham House’ rules.

If you are not able to come and still want your business to be represented, please do send a colleague. I would ask, however, that your nominated representative meets the attendance criteria for the event by holding a Director level position, or equivalent, within your organisation.
