About Phillip Jarman MBA, MSc, GDL, BA (Hons)

Phillip Jarman is a dynamic business leader with deep expertise in AI applications in business, finance, innovation, and technology. He currently serves as an Innovation and Growth Specialist at Innovate UK, where he works with some of the UK’s most ambitious SMEs to drive strategic growth, foster innovation, and build scalable business models.
Phillip is also the Co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of SESO Global, a UK-registered proptech company with operations across Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, and the Middle East. SESO Global is transforming the property sector in emerging markets by addressing the issue of trust in real estate transactions through digitalisation and end-to-end transaction management platforms.
Prior to his entrepreneurial ventures, Phillip spent seven years at UBS Wealth Management, advising Ultra-High-Net-Worth African clients on bespoke investment strategies. He later led Anglo African Ventures, the corporate venturing arm of a Mauritius-based IT consultancy, investing in UK fintech start-ups with applications across the African continent.
He holds an MBA from Imperial College Business School, a Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) from the University of Law, a Double Honours Degree in History and Law from Leicester University and APU (Cambridge) and is a Membership of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI) Level 4.
Phillip brings a rare blend of strategic insight, operational excellence, and international experience across tech, finance, and policy. Whether advising startups or engaging with policymakers, he is passionate about leveraging innovation to drive impact in both emerging and developed markets.
About Ian Pateman:
After reading Business Studies at College, Ian’s career has mostly been in Manufacturing, working in several sectors including Automotive, Building Products, Textiles, as part of the Senior Management Team in roles including Quality Manager and Continuous Improvement Manager.
During which time he gained experience in the recruitment and managing of successful teams. Working for a first-tier supplier to Nissan, Ian worked with the Supplier Development team to develop his Lean and CI skills. He also attained a Six Sigma Green Belt certification.
After joining the Manufacturing Advisory Service as a consultant, Ian worked with a large number of SME’s across a wide range of manufacturing sectors helping to introduce Lean systems and culture. He ran and facilitated several Manufacturing Best Practice clubs in Kent and organised factory visits.
In 2015 Ian Joined the University of Greenwich as part of the Innovate Edge team working on the Innovate 2 Succeed program and has 6 years of experience helping companies to develop products and particularly with finding routes to market. A key element of this work has been to help businesses develop and execute a clear business strategy. Ian understands the Business Support Network well and has helped companies access grants and connect to academic and support organisations to help solve technical problems and address resource issues.
Outside of work Ian enjoys running, cycling and the occasional pint of real ale. He is a member of several environmental organisations.
