Local Charity Calls On Businesses To Double Their Impact During Small Charity Week

Holding On Letting Go (HOLG), a Kent-based charity supporting bereaved children and young people, is urging local businesses and fundraisers to take part in a national campaign that will double the value of their donations.
From Monday 22nd–29th June, HOLG will be participating in the Big Give Small Charity Week campaign, offering supporters a unique opportunity to have every donation matched pound for pound when given via the Big Give platform.
The campaign is a vital fundraising opportunity for the charity, which is celebrating its 28th anniversary this year. HOLG has set an initial fundraising target of £4,900, which would unlock £9,800 in total funding – enough to provide specialist bereavement support for 28 children and young people.
Supporting children through grief
HOLG provides tailored support for children and young people coping with bereavement, including creative therapy sessions, group support weekends, and ongoing one-to-one care. For each child supported, approximately £350 funds a package of care including resources, activities, and professional guidance.
Over the next 12 months, the charity expects to support around 300 children and young people, whether through family referrals, schools, or professional recommendations.
Its wider 2026 fundraising campaign aims to raise £105,000 to ensure every child who needs help can access it.
A call to businesses and fundraisers
The charity is encouraging businesses, community groups, and individuals planning fundraising activities, such as cake sales, charity challenges, or workplace events, to delay donating funds until Monday 22nd – 29th June to maximise impact.
By donating during this one-week period via Big Give, contributions will be doubled at no extra cost to the donor.
Making a lasting difference
CEO Jules Tobin said:
“The opportunity to have donations doubled for a week is one a small charity like ours simply can’t ignore. With the support of our community, we can secure the funding needed to continue delivering vital bereavement care over the coming year. Every donation made during this week will help ensure that no child faces grief alone.”
Families supported by HOLG consistently highlight the transformative impact of the charity’s work—from helping children to understand and express their grief, to improving communication and emotional wellbeing within families.
Donations must be made via Big Give between Monday 22nd – 29th June to be doubled.
