Community Engagement Update For South East Faversham Neighbourhood

6th May 2025
Paul Brooks

We are pleased to provide an update summarising the recent community engagement activities for our proposed South East Faversham neighbourhood.

Community Engagement Events

Throughout February and March 2025, we hosted a series of events across Faversham and the surrounding villages. These events provided residents with the opportunity to ask questions, share their views, and learn more about our proposals. The attached summary outlines the feedback received and highlights the key aspects of the scheme that residents particularly welcomed. We hope you find this update helpful as the Planning Committee decision approaches.

Key Reasons to Support Our Proposals

  1. 2,500 Homes Tailored to Local Needs: Our proposal includes a diverse mix of housing, with over 875 affordable homes, of which at least 437 will be for social rent. The focus will be on 2- and 3-bedroom homes, alongside options for key workers, private renters, and later living.
  2. Enhanced Local Infrastructure: We plan to introduce new healthcare facilities, a primary school, local shops, and significant investment in secondary education.
  3. Sustainability at Its Core: Our development will feature a water recycling centre, renewable energy sources, and EV charging facilities, ensuring cleaner, healthier living for all.
  4. Thriving Green Spaces: 50% of the development is dedicated to green spaces, including gardens, meadows, woodlands, parks, and sports facilities.
  5. Boosting Biodiversity: We aim to increase flora and fauna by 20%, creating vibrant new habitats.
  6. Improved, Sustainable Transport Links: Our plans include upgrades to Junctions 6 and 7 of the M2, a Hopper bus service, new A2 bus stops, walking and cycling routes, and a pedestrian crossing over the A2.
  7. Economic Growth: The development will provide 2,500 new jobs, including commercial and industrial spaces for local businesses.
  8. Celebrating Faversham’s Heritage: Our design will complement and reflect the town’s unique historic architecture, preserving its character and charm.
