We Support The Boys Need Bins Campaign

We are actively supporting Prostate Cancer UK and their campaign to get bins in the gent’s toilets, as we are in a position to do so. I’ve put the link below, for more information. You may be surprised how many Men are incontinent, due to cancer or other issues and would avoid going to places without the facility to dispose of this waste discreetly.

Prostate Cancer UK estimates that one in three men over the age of 65 will experience urinary incontinence issues. These issues can occur as a common side effect following treatment for prostate cancer, such as radiotherapy or surgery to remove the prostate gland. We sympathise profoundly with anyone who is affected.

We know that many men with incontinence experience social isolation, anxiety and depression due to a lack of appropriate facilities. Meanwhile, awareness of such problems among wider society remains low, with evidence suggesting that less than a third of people know prostate cancer treatment can cause urinary incontinence.

We believe that everyone should be able to dispose of incontinence pads easily, hygienically and safely. Yet many men are unable to do so due to poor or no provision of hygiene bins in men’s toilets.

As Prostate Cancer UK highlights, there is currently no statutory requirement for the provision of hygiene bins in men’s toilets. However, we are aware that organisations and local authorities have made commitments in the absence of any legal requirement to do so. For instance, we know that Govia Thameslink Rail – the UK’s largest rail operator – has installed hygiene bins in male toilets across some of its network.
