Wave Community Bank Launches First Podcast Series to Mark 25 Years of Community Impact
In a milestone moment for Wave Community Bank, the organisation has launched its first-ever podcast series, Making Waves, as part of its 25th anniversary celebrations. The podcast explores Wave’s history, impact, and ongoing commitment to improving financial wellbeing across the South East—including right here in Kent.
Founded in 2000 as Brighton East Credit Union, Wave has grown steadily over the past two and a half decades to serve members across East Sussex, Kent, Medway, and the London Borough of Bexley. As a member-owned cooperative, its mission is to promote financial inclusion through ethical savings and affordable loans—often working in partnership with local authorities, employers, and community groups.
The Making Waves podcast is a new venture for the credit union, offering a platform to share stories, insights, and resources with members and the wider public. The first four episodes are now available to stream and cover topics such as:
- The origins and evolution of Wave Community Bank
- The benefits of saving with a credit union
- How ethical loans can help build financial resilience
- The impact of workplace savings schemes, like Wave’s ‘Chorus’ programme
Each episode features voices from within the organisation as well as guest speakers, giving listeners a behind-the-scenes look at how credit unions operate and why they matter.
More episodes will be released weekly in the run-up to Wave’s official 25th anniversary this summer, with upcoming topics including debt advice, financial education, and interviews with partner organisations working to combat illegal money lending.
This initiative not only celebrates Wave’s legacy, but also provides practical information at a time when many individuals and families are seeking trusted support with their finances.
