When people ask why I set up EF Event Planning, I can never give just one answer. The truth is, it’s a mix of life experience, resilience, and the simple joy of bringing people together.
The Personal Story Behind the Business
For years, my life was shaped by chronic back issues. Eventually, I had to step away from work altogether and focus on treatment and surgery. It was a rough chapter but it also reshaped how I saw myself and my future.
Before my spinal fusion operation, I adopted Velma, my rescue dog. She came in to my life at exactly the right time – chaotic, loving, and grounding. In a way, she was the first step in building a new chapter.
Six months after my surgery, I managed to complete the London Marathon – albeit locally, with support from my best friend. That milestone reminded me of what was possible even after setbacks.
Why Events?
I’ve always loved the energy of milestones – weddings, birthdays, farewells, or corporate moments where people gather for a shared purpose. Planning them pulls together creativity, detail, and human connection, which is exactly what I needed in my own life.
Building EF Event Planning
EF Event Planning was born from that mix of passion and practicality. I wanted to create a service that took the stress out of organising events, while also being accessible to people at different budgets.
I hold a Level 7 Certificate in Wedding Planning and Event Management (Distinction), along with a range of additional business and event-related qualifications. But beyond the certificates, I bring empathy. I know first-hand how unpredictable life can be, and I wanted EF Event Planning to reflect that understanding.
What I Offer
I work across four main areas:
- The Pearl – Weddings (Essentials, Classic, Luxury)
- The Tribute – Funerals (Support, Full Memorial)
- The Harmony – Corporate (Basic Setup, Premium)
- The Luxe – Private Parties (Mini, Signature, Ultimate)
Each comes with tiered pricing so clients can choose the level of support that suits them. I also provide add-on’s like a Kid’s Corner setup, Pamper parties for children, and personalised décor touches.
What Makes Me Different
EF Event Planning is built on three things:
- Personal care – I treat every event as if it were my own family’s.
- Flexibility – not everything needs a huge budget, but everything deserves attention to detail.
- Local focus – based in Ramsgate, covering Kent, with a network of trusted local partners for photography, décor, and cakes.
And yes, Velma, the dog has become part of the team. She claimed the office before I even finished setting it up, and she has a knack of sneaking into behind-the-scenes photos.
