Nothing Replaces The Human Touch; Not Even AI
Most days, we see a media article about how AI is becoming part of our everyday lives and how it can support businesses to become more streamlined, effective and efficient.
However there is a flip side.
Job seekers are now using AI to pick up key words and skills in the advertisement and align them to their application, resulting in a number of candidates who appear to be remarkably similarly matched to the role. How should the employer determine a shortlist?
There has also been recent media coverage that workers are using AI to submit all manner of requests, concerns and grievances to their employers and that its ease of use has generated a plethora of claims to Employment Tribunals.
Whereas once upon a time making a claim might have seemed daunting, now virtually any written complaint can be put together in less than a minute. And even though an automated claim might be spotted a mile off, the employer nevertheless duty-bound to respond, and cannot dismiss such a claim as vexatious.
Advo is primed to detect inaccuracies and inconsistencies in any claim. We suggest that employees are asked to describe what happened in their own words and required to bring the situation properly to life.
To avoid risk of litigation, we recommend a pre-emptive review of employee documentation to ensure not only conformity with current legislation, company policies and good practice, but also that expectations are clearly communicated to everyone.
Advo supports businesses with the drafting of documentation and provides commercial, pragmatic and compliant advice to any employee-related matter, with a view to bringing about satisfactory outcomes and minimising risk.
Though we are firm believers in the benefits of AI, the key to productivity and employee engagement is the way in which people are treated at work. Nothing replaces the human touch!
