Hospice Charity ellenor Looking For Artists

In summer 2026, Dartford will be transformed by 30 stunning large Bear sculptures inspired by the beloved classic book ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’.

Designed by local and national artists, these Bears will form an exciting, free public art trail through the town’s streets, parks, and open spaces.

Alongside them, 30 Bear cubs, decorated by local schools and community groups, will be displayed in indoor locations such as museums, libraries, and storefronts – making this an event for the whole community!

The story’s famous mantra: “We can’t go over it, we can’t go under it… we’ve got to go through it!”, perfectly reflects ellenor’s mission. Just as the family in the book faces obstacles together, ellenor supports families through life’s challenges.

We’re on the hunt for diverse creatives both local and national, to design and decorate these stunning sculptures, that will capture the hearts of thousands of art lovers during summer 2026.

All selected artists will receive a set commission of £1000 for their time and talent!

Here’s the timeline after submissions have arrived:

• 21 November 2025

Submission form closes

• January 2026

A panel will carefully shortlist designs.

• February 2026

Shortlisted designs will be showcased at a special art selection event, where sponsors will choose their favourites to bring to life.

• March 2026

If your design is selected, you’ll start painting your masterpiece – either from your own studio or at our communal painting space in Dartford.

• May 2026

Completed sculptures are collected and professionally photographed for the app and website.

• July 2026

The trail goes live, and your artwork takes centre stage for the world to admire!

• September 2026

All sculptures come together for an unforgettable Farewell Event.

• October 2026

Your sculpture is auctioned to the highest bidder, raising vital funds for ellenor.
