Every business has it’s beginning—but ours started with a practical problem and a bit of DIY spirit.
Back when Wickham Diggers was just an idea, Dave and Simon—our directors—needed a digger for their own groundwork. Rather than hire one, they bought their first machine outright. Simple, right? But before they knew it, a friend asked to borrow it. Then another. Suddenly, their digger was always off on a job, and they were back to square one.
So, they bought a second machine. Same story.
It didn’t take long for Dave and Simon to spot the opportunity right in front of them. With more people asking to use the diggers, they shifted gears and turned what began as a personal solution into a business.
Then came the real turning point. One day, Simon struck up a conversation with a gas company working outside his house. That casual chat led to their first big opportunity. With a small loan and a few more machines, Wickham Diggers was officially born.
And we haven’t looked back since.

Ten years on, Wickham Diggers is a proud, family-run business that’s grown far beyond our original two machines. What started as a personal solution has flourished into a trusted company serving countless clients and job sites across the region.
Today, Dave’s son, daughter, and son-in-law and Simon’s son and son-in-law all working as part of the team. We like to think it’s this family-first approach that sets us apart. We’ve kept the same dedication, honesty, and personal touch that got us here—and we carry that into every job we take on.
