Canterbury Accountant To Run London Marathon In Father’s Memory

Canterbury accountant Eddi Taylor is preparing to run the London Marathon to raise money for the one of Britain’s top cardiac charities – a decade after losing his father to undiagnosed heart disease.

Eddi, who is South East Managing Partner at UK top 10 accountancy firm Azets, will run the 26.2 mile race with his brother Oli to raise money for the British Heart Foundation.

The brothers have raised nearly £6,000 so far from friends, colleagues and supporters and are hoping to raise more before the Marathon is over.

“This year marks 10 years since we lost Dad, and Oli and I felt this was the perfect time to run the London Marathon in his memory and raise money for a charity that does so much important work — from funding research into heart disease to supporting those who live with it every day.

“Our dad passed away suddenly at the tragically young age of 56 from what we later learned was undiagnosed heart disease. We hope the money we raise will help prevent other families from experiencing a loss like ours.”

Eddi and Oli have been training for the marathon since November of last year and have now tapered down their training ahead of the race this weekend.

He said: “It’s certainly been a challenge fitting training in around work and I must say that having to run a half marathon before a full day in the office did have me questioning my life choices slightly.”

Eddi is primarily based at Azets’ Canterbury office, which is located inside the Old City walls, and a short walk from the cathedral. The team provides a range of services tailored to businesses of all scales, encompassing sole traders to limited companies.

He also oversees Azets wider South East region, which covers the offices in Maidstone, Ashford, Canterbury, Sandwich and Sidcup.
