Kent law firm Brachers is delighted to announce another year of strong results in the Legal 500 UK Solicitors Guide 2027, a leading independent directory of law firms and lawyers.

Brachers has been ranked across 12 practice areas, with four teams achieving top-tier status and 35 lawyers individually recommended.

For more than 30 years, the Legal 500 has assessed law firms worldwide, highlighting the teams and individuals that deliver outstanding advice and client service.

The results follow extensive research by the Legal 500, drawing on feedback from around 300,000 clients worldwide, submissions from law firms, interviews with leading private practice lawyers and analysis by its research team.

This year, four Brachers practice areas received a top tier ranking: Commercial Property; Corporate and Commercial; Debt Recovery; and Public Sector.

The firm also celebrated a number of new individual rankings. Catherine Daw, Head of Employment, achieved a new Leading Partner ranking for Public Sector, and Christopher Eriksson-Lee, Head of Private Client, is now recognised as a Leading Partner in two practice areas, adding Personal Tax, Trusts and Probate to his existing Agriculture and Estates accolade.

Kieron Cummins, Corporate Senior Associate, has also been named a Leading Associate in Corporate and Commercial: Kent, Surrey and Sussex.

Additionally, Deborah Cain, Private Wealth Disputes Partner, has been inducted into the Legal 500 Hall of Fame. This prestigious accolade is reserved for lawyers at the pinnacle of their profession who have achieved consistent recognition over many years.

Among the 35 recommended lawyers, Partners James Bullock, Matthew Simmonds, Claire Williams, Erol Huseyin, Alex Cosgrove, Robert Thompson, Graham Wallis, Mary Rimmer, Mei-Ling McNab and Sarah Gaines were recognised as Leading Partners.

The firm’s Agriculture and Estates team also enjoyed particularly strong recognition this year, with Deborah Cain, James Millis, Sarah Mannooch, Alex Cosgrove, Sophie Read and Abigail Brightwell newly recommended for their work in the sector. Across the firm, further recommendations were awarded to Paul Abdey, Bill Butler, Abigail Eriksson-Lee, Kirsty Hancock, Angela Jarvis, Ash Jilani, Amy Judge, Lacie Kerner, Nikita Landa, Melissa Nelson, Gemma Peatey, Angela Ruminski, Stephen Rogers, Justine Sloover, Colin Smith, Helen Stonham and Petra Venton.

Clients praised the firm’s ability to ‘combine deep technical expertise with genuine care and humanity’ and to ‘translate complex legal issues into lay terms’. Client feedback also highlighted the firm’s people-first approach, recognising how teams ‘take the time to understand the people, pressures and context behind each issue, which makes support feel personal and highly attuned rather than transactional’. This dedication to client service was further reflected in praise for the team’s willingness to ‘rise to the challenge and exceed expectations, going the extra mile’.

Joanna Worby, Managing Partner at Brachers, said: “This year’s Legal 500 rankings demonstrate the exceptional breadth of talent across Brachers. We are incredibly proud to see colleagues receive new accolades, while others continue to be acknowledged for their longstanding excellence. With four of our practice areas securing top-tier status, these results highlight the strength, consistency and continued development of our teams. We are especially grateful to our clients for their trust and generous feedback, which make these achievements all the more meaningful.”
