Kenward Trust Launches Alcohol Awareness Week Campaign to Highlight Hidden Signs of Alcohol Dependency in the Workplace.

Led annually by UK charity Alcohol Change UK, Alcohol Awareness Week runs from 7-13 July 2025 and this year’s theme is ‘alcohol and work’.

Kenward Trust aims to raise awareness of subtle indicators of alcohol dependency, such as increased absenteeism, drinking in secret before social events, or struggling to reduce intake despite trying. The campaign will feature real-life stories from current and former residents, exploring how alcohol use impacted their working lives, especially during times of high stress or
isolation, such as the Covid-19 lockdown.

During the week-long social media series, of real life stories, Kenward Trust website will have a dedicated landing page offering support and information. The campaign is designed to break
stigma, promote understanding, and guide people toward support, whether they’re questioning their own relationship with alcohol or supporting a loved one.

Penny Williams, CEO of Kenward Trust, said:

“Alcohol misuse doesn’t always look like a crisis. It often hides in the workplace, behind routines or social norms. This campaign is about helping people spot those early, silent signs and know they’re not alone, help is here, and recovery is possible.”

The campaign will also include storytelling through quotes and anonymised experiences from residents who faced alcohol dependency while balancing professional responsibilities.

Kenward Trust has been at the heart of addiction recovery and prevention since 1968, providing residential rehabilitation, early intervention, and youth education programmes across Kent and Medway.
