AI In Marketing Analytics: Powerful, But Only When Used Wisely
AI has transformed the way businesses approach marketing analytics, offering speed, scale and predictive capability that were once out of reach. But while the potential is huge, AI is not a magic wand, and without the right human oversight, it can just as easily mislead as it can optimise.
AI can introduce benefits of speed, scale and predictive power. But it also introduces risks around data quality, biases, transparency and over automation that can mislead decisions if not handled correctly by suitably skilled analysts, who can accurately uncover patterns in customer behaviour to generate predictions around churn, lifetime value, purchase probability and campaign performance.
Beware though – the quality of any insights depends entirely on the quality of the data and the expertise of the people interpreting it. Incomplete, biased or messy data will always produce flawed outputs, which could lead you in costly wrong directions.
There is also a significant risk of misinterpretation of results based upon a lack of understanding of the data that has been used within AI tools – and without professional oversight, costly mistakes from following the wrong data in the wrong direction, could be a real risk.
AI should accelerate decision-making, not replace it.
The Insight House Behavioural Science Director Ed Pettipher, says: “We can help ensure your data is suitable for use and interpret the outputs to make sure your resource and campaign decisions will result in favourable ROI, build loyalty and long-term value in your customers.
“For organisations ready to embrace AI, the opportunity is significant, but so is the responsibility. The businesses seeing the greatest gains are those combining strong data foundations with human expertise and clear governance.”
