The Kent Construction Focus Group (KCFG) is a one-stop-shop for local businesses to discuss the future of Kent development, giving companies access to local knowledge, expertise and contracts. KCFG promotes the future role of Kent land development and construction businesses in the growth and development of Kent and its environment.

This months topics will be Decarbonisation and Local Skills. Our guest speakers include;

Tom Ehrman, GrowUp Farms
GrowUp Farms are a UK-based grower of high-quality salads, who are building a vertical farm at Discovery Park in Sandwich, Kent. GrowUp Farms and sustainable infrastructure company Generate Capital, have announced an investment exceeding £100m to transform British food production by accelerating delivery of GrowUp’s energy-efficient vertical farms, starting with the farm in Kent. Generate Capital is a Public Benefit Corporation that builds, owns, operates and finance sustainable infrastructure projects.

Tudor Price, Kent Invicta Chamber of Commerce, and Lewis O’Callagahan, MidKent College. Back in 2021, it was announced that Kent Invicta Chamber of Commerce and some of Kent’s best colleges won a Government bid of £5.6million towards the Skills Accelerator Programme. Under this Programme, the colleges will focus on three key sectors; agriculture, construction and engineering, with a shared thread of decarbonisation.

The remaining funding created a Local Skills Improvement Programme (LSIP) with the chamber by working with Kent to identify the local needs and solutions to address them in our key sectors, including the construction industry. Through this event, Tudor and Lewis will provide an update on this plan and how they are working with the construction industry to future proof the curriculum delivered by the local further education colleges. It will ensure the county’s skills priorities are aligned and that the workforce has the skills needed to enable businesses here in Kent to grow.

Hosted by members of the KCFG committee, Cheryl Causebrook and Ella Brocklebank.

Enjoy a Full English Breakfast at the Village Hotel Club, served from 7.30am with an anticipated finish of 9.30am.
