The Kent Construction Focus Group (KCFG) is a one-stop-shop for local businesses to discuss the future of Kent development, giving companies access to local knowledge, expertise and contracts. KCFG promotes the future role of Kent land development and construction businesses in the growth and development of Kent and its environment.

This weeks KCFG will focus the future generation and the importance of bringing young people into the construction industry, touching on topics such as the current skills shortages and employee development.

Cheryl Causebrook and Ella Brocklebank, our KCFG Committee, will discuss the launch of Construction 186. The project aims to provide young people with a better understanding of the career opportunities the construction industry offers. Adam Worrall, Willmott Dixon, will then talk us through the Kent and Medway Medical School development featured in the Construction 186 videos.

Malcolm Clarke, Baxall Construction, will discuss how the Baxall Academy provides an opportunity for all through apprenticeships, a management training scheme and professional development

Other guest speakers include;

  • Andrew Metcalf, Maxim PR, will provide the group with an informative Economic Update.
  • Greg Mayne, Azets, will be discussing Reverse Charge for VAT, which will come into force on Monday 1st March 2021.
  • Petra Bones from Demelza Hospice Care for Children will give an update on the work Demelza has been doing over the past year, as well as their future plans as a charity.
