The Kent Construction Focus Group (KCFG) is a one-stop-shop for local businesses to discuss the future of Kent development, giving companies access to local knowledge, expertise and contracts. KCFG promotes the future role of Kent land development and construction businesses in the growth and development of Kent and its environment.

This month’s guest speakers:


Angela Collins, Kent County Council

Angela is one of three Principal Project Officers working in KCC’s Business Investment Team. The team manage the Regional Growth Fund in the form of the Kent and Medway Business Fund and Small Business Boost Fund, that offer financial support to Kent & Medway businesses, aiding their growth and supporting job creation. Angela’s role includes supporting and advising potential businesses applying for a loan and guiding them through the application process from the pre-application stage to the point of contracting, for successful applicants.

Angela has a history of working with businesses in Kent & Medway, supporting and advising, and her career has included 10 years as a bid writer, supporting businesses and community groups with their loan and grant applications. She has also worked in a marketing environment, as an analyst and researcher and has run her own business. Angela is passionate about helping Kent’s businesses to grow with the support of a Kent and Medway Business fund loan.


Camilla Maurice, Local Skills Improvement Plan (LSIP), Kent Invicta Chamber Of Commerce

Camilla is the Project Manager for the Kent and Medway Local Skills Improvement Plan at the Kent Invicta Chamber of Commerce. The Kent & Medway LSIP works with employers and employer representative groups to identify the local skills needs and solutions to address them in key sectors, in collaboration with the local education providers.

Camilla comes from a background in the further education space with over 10 years’ experience working across curriculum design and delivery of Business and Digital programmes, management, and more recently employer engagement. Camilla is passionate about working with employers and education providers to support the development of a skilled workforce which in turn contributes to a productive local economy.


Richard Wilde, MidKent College

MidKent College Green Skills Project Manager

Over 20 years in the Further Education sector. Started as a training deliverer at the Royal School of Military Engineering (RSME), moving on to curriculum development and more recently, the Retrofit, Renewables and Sustainable construction training provision with MidKent College.

Became involved in the Local Skills Improvement Plan (LSIP) through the Kent Invicta Chamber of Commerce, and subsequently the Local Skills Improvement Fund (LSIF).

Proud to be part of an organisation that is taking significant steps towards addressing the LSIP priorities in construction.

Passionate about making a difference on the road to Net Zero Carbon by 2050, and a strong believer in the collaborative effort needed to achieve global targets for a sustainable future.
