KCFG promotes the future role of Kent land development and construction businesses in the growth and development of Kent and its environment.

Hosted by members of the KCFG committee, Cheryl Causebrook and Ella Sandall,  attendees can enjoy a full English breakfast at the voco The Clifton Folkestone, served from 7:30am, alongside speaker presentations and networking opportunities throughout the morning.

This month’s guest speakers:

Ed Wealend, Folkestone Leas Lift

Ed Wealend is a Chartered Engineer with nearly two decades’ experience in mechanical design and sustainability consulting, and Chief Engineering Officer at Longevity Partners. He leads the global Technical Services team, covering green building certification including BREEAM, LEED and WELL, alongside sustainable design and construction, net zero strategies, energy and carbon auditing, and sustainable due diligence.

Ed is responsible for project delivery, technical standards and quality, ensuring sustainability claims stand up to commercial and technical scrutiny, audit and regulation. He also leads the implementation of Longevity Partners’ ISO9001 quality management system and works closely with teams across the business on the application of AI in consulting, focusing on where it genuinely improves outcomes in the built environment.

Alongside his day-to-day role, Ed is closely involved in the National Lottery funded refurbishment of the Folkestone Leas Lift, a Grade II* Listed, water powered funicular railway. At KCFG, Ed will be sharing how this project is balancing heritage preservation with modern engineering requirements and sustainability in practice.
