Oasis Domestic Abuse Service

Home should be a safe place for everyone. Sadly, for thousands across Kent and Medway, it isn’t.

Each year at Oasis we help over 1,300 adults and 140 children who have been affected by domestic abuse. Our aim is to end violence and abuse & spread the message that Love Shouldn’t Hurt.

At Oasis we provide:

• advice and support from the start through our Helpline
• a safe place to stay for families fleeing abuse
• support through the courts
• mentoring and therapy for those who have suffered trauma
• help in building a safe new life
• 93% of young survivors saw positive mental outcomes after being supported by Oasis

We work to ensure that family life is free from abuse. We provide accommodation for those fleeing from anywhere in the county, and further afield. We have 50 units of accommodation available to those needing a safe place to stay while they re-build their life.  We also provide community support & mentoring across East Kent, North Kent and Medway.

At Oasis we believe that by working together – with partner agencies, schools, professionals and the local community – we can break the cycle of domestic abuse, and create a brighter, safer future for all.

We have specialist domestic abuse support workers (IDVAs) based in two hospitals in Kent & Medway. They work with health professionals to help them spot signs of abuse, and can work with patients who might need a referral to community services, or a move to refuge.

We also deliver training across Kent to professionals and organisations including the Police, to help formulate and inform their response to domestic abuse.  We work with local councils, community groups and companies to raise awareness of domestic abuse, our services and how survivors can be best supported.
