Founded in 1907, Benenden Hospital is an award-winning independent hospital with charitable status situated in the heart of Kent, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).

Following a multi-million pound re-development, it is a modern facility fitted with the latest equipment serving three operating theatres, an Ambulatory Care Unit, 38 single patient rooms, an MRI and CT suite as well as a large fully-equipped outpatient and diagnostic department. Rated outstanding by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and recognised for providing excellent service with great clinical outcomes for its patients, the hospital offers a wide range of healthcare consultations, treatments and diagnostic services to self-pay patients, Benenden Health members and those with private health insurance.

Under Mr Raman Thakur I underwent a full hip replacement and wish to express my sincere appreciation for the wonderful treatment I received.
Seven weeks after having the operation I can go about my life doing things that I was previously unable to do, due to the pain in my right hip.
After having the operation I had no arthritis pain at all, only discomfort from the operation, which soon disappeared.
I went to see Mr Thakur today and thanked him for giving me back my freedom to do things I love without pain. Life is going to be good again.

It was somewhat fortuitous that I read in Be Healthy magazine some months ago that podiatry had been added to the services at the hospital. As I had suffered for many years with the minor but somewhat painful condition if ingrown toenails, I wondered if I might be able to get some treatment via membership.
The procedure was performed in the most relaxed, good-humoured and professional manner. I cannot overstate how lovely it is now not to have continual nagging foot pain.
I have only used the services offered by Benenden Health a couple of times during a long membership but have to say that overall my experience is one of absolute professionalism, excellent customer care and now, with the newly-completed hospital, a wonderfully clean and state-of-the-art facility.
I am so grateful that on this occasion my membership has allowed me to have treatment to alleviate pain that otherwise I would have likely had to live with, as paying a podiatrist privately would have been significantly more costly than my subscriptions.
I certainly feel that podiatry is an invaluable addition to Benenden's services, especially at a time when NHS services are so limited/non-existant.

I had a knee replacement on 31 January this year and was in for four days on Bensan Ward. During my stay. I was looked after with considerable kindness, care and humour. Senior staff nurse Elaine, who looked after me for three days, was exceptional. All the staff nurses are a credit to the hospital. My praise and gratitude is also extended to all other staff including the physiotherapists, kitchen staff and cleaners.
