PURPOSE OF JOB:
The Membership Development Manager is primarily accountable for maximising profitability and growth of memberships through new business within an assigned area of Kent. Actively selling the company’s membership by building relationships and understanding member’s business objectives and coupling to the benefits available to them through the Chamber.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensuring duties are carried out in line with the Company’s quality management system BS ENISO9001:2015
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Recruitment of members, face to face contact, virtually, ensuring you are always portraying the membership in a professional manner.
- To demonstrate knowledge of the membership products, understanding all its benefits and those best suited to the prospective company. Actively listening to their requirements and tailoring the meeting ensuring it is relevant and fitting to the needs of their business.
- To converse concisely in all verbal & written communication internally and externally.
- To ensure all paperwork is completed concisely and correctly, to seek advice and training if required and to equally support others when needed.
- To adopt a self-starter approach, whilst working within a team.
- To analyse and report regularly on company systems (Hubspot) in the relevant area recognising the opportunities for potential businesses, ensuring all notes are updated.
- To actively promote and sell Chamber memberships to businesses in a defined area of Kent.
- To uphold the Company Brand & working ethic internally & externally.
- To play an integral part of the Membership team, along with peers, also working closely with the Administration Team, Events Team & Marketing, ensuring professionalism and assisting them to achieve the requirements of the task. Understanding the importance of how each area of the business is integral to each other.
- To promote the Chamber and its activities to both outside organisations and individuals
- To achieve set targets and KPI’s.
- To demonstrate exceptional organisational skills using the correct amount of time allocated to each element of the job ensuring maximum productivity of onboarding new businesses. To utilise Hubspot and update calendar and notes on meetings.
- To support the Membership Manager in delivering the objectives of increasing Membership
- To assist with all Sales and Marketing carried out via the Membership Department.
- To assist the Membership Department in carrying out its activities in line with the Company’s business plan.
- To assist with identifying commercial opportunities in conjunction with the Membership Team.
- To promote the Company and its activities to both outside organisations and individuals.
- Actively support others, by the means of social media platforms.
- To assist or help host Chamber networking events if required.

- Strong sales experience.
- Demonstrated experience working to targets.
- Proactive in your approach to build external and internal relationships.

- Exceptional customer service.
- Committed to developing Chamber membership.
- Able to work as part of a team and on your own.
- Good communicator.
- Excellent presentation skills.

- Proficient computer skills and literacy.
- Ability to communicate to all levels, face to face, telephone and email.
- Proactive in approach to build external and internal relationships.
- Driving license as you will be required to travel to the needs of the business in and around Kent, with some travel required elsewhere within the UK to external meetings & events.
- Embodies strong traits such as decision making, problem solving and possessing good judgement.
- Ability to project a calm and professional demeanour regardless of the type of environment.
- A high consideration to detail and high level of accuracy.
- Trustworthy, honest, respectful, flexible and must be entrusted with confidential information.
- Self-driven.
