Brachers Bitesize: Autumn 2024 employment law update
October is set to be a big month for employment law.
The first labour government budget in 15 years is being held on 30 October 2024 and its content is highly anticipated. Possible employment related proposals could include increases to National Minimum Wage and employer National Insurance contributions.
In this webinar, Employment Law Senior Associate Abigail Brightwell will examine the key areas of reform set out in the Bill, and look at key measures announced by the Chancellor in the Autumn Statement. We will consider their impact on employers and their workforces and offer practical guidance on steps employers and businesses need to take in response.
We also await the imminent publication of the government’s Employment Rights Bill, setting out its “new deal” for workers.

The Bill is expected to contain significant changes to employment law, including:
- Increased worker protections
- Changes to zero hours contracts
- Changes to unfair dismissal laws
- Additional rights for unions.
