Specsavers Optical Superstores Ltd has agreed a ten-year lease on 58 High Street Strood – a prominent retail property marketed by Caxtons Chartered Surveyors.
One of the Medway Towns, Strood is well positioned close to the M2 and all routes north and south. It is north of the River Medway, just 10 miles from the county town of Maidstone and five miles to the west of Gillingham.
James Squire, a commercial negotiator at Caxtons’ Commercial Agency offices in Maidstone, was instrumental in promoting this property, which is located on a busy thoroughfare in a parade of shops, in the centre of the town.
In addition to the 1035 ft2 of mostly open plan retail space on the ground floor, there is a further area of storage and a kitchen and WC on the first floor making the total area some 1515 ft2.
Completed on 12th January, James said that he was delighted Caxtons had finalised the deal on behalf of their client at an annual rent of £24,000. The premises are let on a new full repairing and insuring lease and has a 5-year break clause built in. The deal includes a 9-month 50% rent allowance for the new tenant.
