Fiscale Ltd, a Suffolk based Research and Development (R&D) Tax Credits specialist, has expanded opening a new office in Kent to service a growing number of clients located in the South East.
Fiscale was established in February 2014 to help companies claim back the money invested in research and development activities from HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) under the R&D Tax Credits scheme.
Since 2014 Fiscale has acquired an increasing number of clients from all over the UK but particularly in Kent and the South East.
The majority of these companies have been recommended to Fiscale by existing clients and operate in a variety of industry sectors, including software, manufacturing, engineering, chemicals, food and beverage, mining, manufacturing and e-cigarettes.
In order to provide clients in Kent and the South East with the appropriate level of local support and guidance, Fiscale has appointed Hannah Tilson as Director to head up Fiscale (South East) Limited.
The office is based at the Innovation Centre Medway in Chatham. The Innovation Centre Medway, with its focus on technology and knowledge-based businesses, provides a perfect environment for the new company.
Hannah has many years of experience in accountancy and corporate tax working with both SMEs and large multi-national companies. Her career in the specialised area of Research and Development tax credits began in 2003 as a Corporate Tax Manager working for BDO. In 2007 Hannah moved to Grant Thornton as a Corporate Tax Associate Director and eventually left to set up her own business in 2015.
Working for herself provided Hannah with the flexibility to continue being involved in a field she loved while raising her young family. Now her children have settled into primary school Hannah is ready for another challenge.
Hannah comments “Working in the specialised area of R&D Tax Credits is something I really enjoy. Although I love getting stuck into the numbers I am a people person and like the client-facing aspect of my new role.
“There will also be plenty of opportunities to attend local networking events to raise awareness of R&D Tax Credits and Fiscale. The number of R&D Tax Credits claims for SMEs increased by 22% for the year 2015-16 to 21,865. The South East accounted for 3,685 of these claims. Considering there are around 900,000 enterprises in the region I believe there are still too many SMEs who are not claiming. There are a lot of companies that we will be able to help to access this valuable tax-free source of additional funding for their business.
“We already have a significant level of business in the South East, including Fiscale’s biggest client, so I am definitely hitting the ground running!”
Stephen Bunting, Group Technical Director, commented “I worked with Hannah at Grant Thornton and I am very excited to be working with her again. Hannah is an exceptionally talented tax adviser for whom I have the utmost respect, securing her as part of the technical team is a real coup for Fiscale.”
