Thursday 22nd February, 18:00 – 20:00
County Square Shopping Centre
Ashford Borough Council and Pilgrims Hospices need artists and creatives to help them to design and paint giant blank Snowdog sculptures, for a trail of over 30 Snowdogs to be placed across the borough from September – November 2018.
The Snowdog sculpture is inspired by the animated film The Snowman™ and The Snowdog, the hugely popular sequel to Raymond Briggs’ classic The Snowman™.
Local and national artists and celebrities will bring the sculptures to life and give them their own personality by creating a unique design for each dog.
The trail will attract thousands of visitors from far and wide to see artists’ beautiful and individually designed work on Snowdogs. A gala auction of the Snowdogs in December will hope to raise significant funds for Pilgrims Hospices, to provide specialist end of life care for local people.
Creative people are invited to attend an Artist Inspiration Event at County Square (Godinton Road / Ques Smokehouse entrance), where they can chat with the team; meet ‘Sparky’ and a plain white Snowdog; check out a new Artist Studio; and pick up an Artist Pack with all the information needed to submit a design. If their design is chosen by the sponsors, artists will be paid a fee of £800 to apply their design on to the Snowdog.
The event will explain how to submit a design, deadline dates, the selection process, painting the Snowdogs, the trail, the final auction and answering any questions you might have.
Places are limited, so please book your free place via https://snowdogsdiscoverashford.eventbrite.co.uk
