Urgent Request From NHS Trusts In The Region

24th March 2020
Paul Brooks

The following Trusts are asking for your help…

East Kent, Maidstone, Tunbridge Wells and North Kent NHS Trusts

Samuel Moses , Co-ordinator samuel.moses@nhs.net

(1) As the Trusts prepare for large scale deployment of nucleic acid based testing (using qPCR), they must mitigate against resource scarcity that will certainly occur as testing increases greatly over the coming months. To do this, a variety of commercially available kits are being validated/verified currently. To take this one step further, Sam is keen to develop a local assay and is looking for partners on this. This is already being done in other Trusts. If you are interested in getting involved, then please contact Sam directly ASAP.

(2) A current bottleneck in the ability to scale-up testing is a lack of extraction platforms to prepare samples for testing. If you have local industrial contacts who may have access to such equipment, please do get in touch with them to enquire about lending to the NHS. I am sure the Trusts would also be grateful for more offers of qPCR instruments.

West Kent GP Surgery Cluster

Duncan Cochrane-Dyet duncan.cochrane-dyet@mhllp.co.uk or call 07525 590516

(1) The West Kent GP Surgery Cluster is in urgent need of equipment: PPE (masks (standard (FPP3/N95), visors, and protective bodysuits), keyboard covers (so keyboards can still be used with cover on), headset, webcams, lockable tool bags, portaloos and drive-in tents.

If you can help, please contact Duncan on the details above.
