New guidance has been provided to the College of Policing on how Coronavirus government legislation should be enforced by the police. Please note that this guidance is for England only – the British Chambers of Commerce team is ascertaining whether similar guidance has been issued in other nations. In relation to staff travelling to work, the guidance states the following:
• Anyone who cannot work from home is allowed to travel to their workplace.
• You do not have to show that you are a key worker or that your work is critical.
• The police are advised not to ask for proof that you are going to work, the guidance requires them to ‘police by consent’
