I am writing to inform you about the A229 Blue Bell Hill Junction Improvement Scheme, and our proposals to improve this strategically important route that connects the M2 and the M20.
We are holding a public consultation until Monday 19 October 2020 which gives you an opportunity to view our proposals and provide feedback.
At this stage, we are presenting three indicative design options that will involve a variety of works to improve the road at its junctions with the M2 and the M20. The proposed works aim to:
- help reduce congestion
- improve journey time reliability
- address road safety at Junction 3 of the M2 and Junction 6 of the M20
- improve the road’s capacity to accommodate an increase in future traffic
- provide suitable routes and facilities for public transport, pedestrians and cyclists
Virtual consultation hub
Given the current restrictions in place because of COVID-19, we are not able to hold public drop-in events. We have therefore created a virtual consultation hub which can be accessed online at: kent.gov.uk/a229bluebellhill
The online hub provides a project video, a series of maps, visuals and information boards, a consultation brochure and an FAQ document. These materials provide further background to the scheme and give details of our three proposed options and the work undertaken to date, in addition to outlining the next steps for the scheme.
Providing your feedback
We would be grateful if you could take the time to access the exhibition and complete a questionnaire to provide us with your views on our three proposed options. This feedback will be used to help us determine which option should be taken forward as the preferred option. Questionnaires can be accessed online via the virtual consultation hub and must be completed by 23:59 on Monday 19 October.
If you have any questions or would like to request hard copies of the consultation materials or questionnaire please do not hesitate to get in touch via email (A229BlueBellHill@kent.gov.uk) or telephone call (03000 42 14 37).
Additionally, if you would like to request the consultation materials or questionnaire in alternative formats please get in touch via email (firstname.lastname@example.org), telephone call (03000 42 15 53) or by using our text relay service number (18001 03000 421553). Please note the text relay service number goes through to an answering machine which is monitored during office hours.
Many thanks, Major Capital Programme Team
