Phones and Covid-19

With the scare of Covid-19 we are all taking extra precautions by washing our hands more frequently, more thoroughly and for longer. However, the Covid-19 virus, like many others, can stay alive on hard surfaces for some time so, however much we clean our hands, if we do not clean these surfaces, we are increasing our risk of becoming unwell. Some surfaces are easy to clean but how about our technological items, such as our phones? We cannot wash these in soap for 20 seconds!
Many phone manufacturing companies advise against using harsh chemicals as these can damage your phone, whilst some state you can use 70% isopropyl wipes. For the rest of us, we recommend the following:
1. Unplug your phone, turn it off and remove the case
2. Lightly dampen (do not get too wet!) a microfibre cloth and add a small amount of liquid household soap
3. Gently rub all surfaces of the phone and case. Take extra care not to get moisture in any of the openings
4. Wipe over all surfaces with a clean, dry microfibre cloth.
There you have it! A clean phone!
