Calling all Exporters and Importers!

We are delivering export training on Customs Classification and correct use of Tariff Codes, including Customs Declaration Service (CDS) awareness and review of Customs Procedures.

There is a new Customs system being introduced known as CDS and the course aims to make delegates aware of the key changes for entries as compared to the outgoing CHIEF system.

Using the correct tariff code for imports or exports is the joint responsibility of both the exporter and the importer. The tariff code dictates the amount of duty payable and can lead to retrospective claims by Customs if incorrect. By the same token it is easy to pay too much by applying an incorrect code.

The course will look at the process for determining the code that fits the product and for obtaining binding decisions in order to avoid disagreements.

To wrap up, the morning will conclude with a review of the key Customs procedures with which all traders or agents should be familiar.

The course will be presented by Graham Card MIEx (Grad) International Trade Adviser at the Kent Invicta Chamber of Commerce.
