SEC Operations Ltd (commonly known as South East Coachworks) a family owned Faversham business, are pleased to announce that Gordon Engraving (Commercial) Ltd, Roper Road, Canterbury have joined the SEC group.

Gordon Engraving and its staff will carry on trading as usual, but, the eight jobs at the site will be complimented with the introduction of an Apprenticeship scheme, creating three new apprenticeships.

These apprenticeships are due to be launched over the next two years and will include one apprenticeship for each skill set: -Engraving, Signwriting and Plastic moulding and fabrication. SEC have a firm belief in apprenticeships and ensuring that the trades are passed on to younger generations and recently there has been an addition of two new apprenticeships at the site in Faversham, 1 apprentice coach builder and 1 apprentice trim and upholsterer.

The apprenticeships at Gordon Engraving will be put in place using the same structure that works so well at SEC. Each Apprenticeship is tailor made to suit the trade as well as the individual. Ensuring that the apprenticeship is built around the strengths of the individual as well as teaching basics like health and safety, measuring and manufacturing. The scheme works so well that SEC now have qualified apprentices teaching the new ones.

As well as offering standard Engraving services, Gordon Engraving also offer Acrylic Fabrication, Commercial Engraving, Laser Profile Cutting, Plastics Sheet Sales, Points of Sale Displays and a Signs and Design service. Gordon Engravings’ www.perspex.direct is an online site offering a wide range of material finishing services to work with your Perspex, Acrylic, PETG, Polycarbonate, PVC and our bespoke Magnetherm secondary glazing system designed to aid in the prevention of single glazing condensation. Bringing the modern and traditional as one.

Earlier this year SEC Operations Ltd also stepped in when C&D Fabrications needed help, saving the jobs of the two employees and creating three new positions. C & D Fabrications are based in Dunkirk and like Gordon Engraving have a skilled workforce. C&D are a commercial build or repair service, they can ply-line a van or build a complete new chassis. Both mergers compliment the other businesses within the SEC Operations group; South East Coachworks, SEC Signworks and SEC Upholstery and Trimming.
