Providing Skills And Work Opportunities For Disadvantaged Women In One Of The Poorest Countries In The World

NGO Business Services, a bespoke Kent based IT consultancy has established an academy in a remote corner of rural Uganda, one of the poorest countries in the world.  The academy provides training and employment in IT systems to young women from disadvantaged backgrounds who would otherwise have few if any options to escape the cycle of poverty that most families in the region suffer from.

Levels of education in this remote corner are low and employment opportunities are few and far between, resulting in high levels of unemployment and a large number of social problems associated with extreme poverty – domestic abuse, child labour, substance abuse, addiction and many others.

Company director, Jenna Bishop, said “we spend a lot of time working with a charity in Uganda and have seen that there are very few opportunities for young women to escape poverty – incidents of child marriage and under age pregnancies are high, so we decided to start our academy to give some of these women a way out.  We provide training on standard products such as Excel and more specialised systems such as Salesforce CRM.  The women then join our team and earn an income that is life changing for them and their families.

Our first Academy member was Ahabwe Denise. She has excelled in her knowledge of Salesforce systems and integrated applications and has gained her Form Assembly certification. She is working towards her Salesforce Administrators’ Certification.

We are proud to grow our team in this way and are now looking to expand our business from our traditional non-profit clients to for-profit businesses.  We specialise in implementing customer relationship management systems and related systems such as finance and online sales systems.  We have many years of experience implementing Salesforce CRM in organisations of all sizes and locations, primarily the UK but also the USA, east and southern Africa, South America, Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
