Small Firms Call for help with Energy Costs

More than a third (36%) of business owners believe that providing grants to carry out energy-efficiency upgrades is the most important action Government could take to help small firms reduce energy costs, according to a British Chambers of Commerce and British Gas survey of 2,100 business owners.

Only 13% of survey respondents have seen a decrease in their energy bill over the last three years, while 35% have seen prices increase and 37% have seen little or no change. The research also found that only 8% of business owners believe more guidance on energy efficiency would help them reduce costs and just 4% believe finance arrangements such as low-cost loans or lease agreements would help.
