KENT EMPLOYERS RECOGNISED FOR SUPPORTING THE RESERVE FORCES

Kent businesses were recognised for supporting their employees who are members of the Volunteer Reserve Forces at a special reception hosted by the Deputy Commander of 2 (South East) Brigade at Dover Castle.  Colonel David Sanders TD presented 16 certificates to representatives from Kent organisations.

Fleur Thomas, Regional Campaign Director of SaBRE (Supporting Britain’s Reservists and Employers) said “reservists perform a crucial role for the nation in support of the Armed Forces and the skills and experience they gain make them extremely valuable employees.

“Mobilisation has increased over the past few years and is often a time of concern to Reservists, so having the support of their employer makes a huge difference to them.  SaBRE’s role is to listen to employers’ concerns, relay these to the MOD and support them by providing information on the benefits, rights and obligations associated with employing a member of the Volunteer Reserve Forces.”

Dover Castle is the official residency of Commander 2 (South East) Brigade Brigadier Iain James, and guests at the event were taken on a tour of the Castle before the presentation ceremony which took place in The Great Tower.

More information about the rights and obligations of Reservist employers is available at www.sabre.mod.uk.
