New Wage Rates for Construction Workers

Posted on Tuesday 19th July, 2016 by

Contractors and unions have reached the Construction Industry Joint Council (CIJC) agreement, a new two-year pay settlement for construction workers. The agreement follows protracted talks between construction firms and Unite, UCATT (the Union of Construction Allied Trade and Technicians) and GMB, representing workers in the sector.

The agreement will increase workers’ wages by 2.5% from 25 July 2016 and by a further 2.75% from June 2017.

Industry sick pay and subsistence allowances will also increase at least in line with the basic pay rate increases, while workers will receive an extra day of holiday from 1 January 2017.
