K Sports is a new and exciting model for sport, business, education and vocational opportunity in the community arriving in the heart of Kent. CEO Alan Dennington, reveals more about one of the county’s most exciting new projects and welcomes you to come and see the developments for yourself.
K Sports Cobdown is a really exciting project to be involved with. We are centered on the 28 acre Cobdown sports ground in Kent with a unique mission and value. We will be putting elite and professional facilities in place to increase participation in a range of sports, fostering and encouraging excellence, along with supporting academic achievement and vocational learning.
We’ve managed to make huge investments already to enhance facilities. Earlier in the year we opened our brand, new refurbished sports bar and an exquisite function room which can host all types of events from conferences, receptions and parties.
With all this introduced, we are successfully working to make K Sports Cobdown a fantastic family venue with a community facility for sports enthusiasts of all ages and abilities.
Our plans are bold and visionary. With the support of a number of partners including the Tonbridge & Malling Council, Kent County Football Association, local schools and clubs and the relevant NGBs, we were recently granted planning permission to begin further work. Cobdown’s transformation into one of the most modern and well-constructed sports facilities in the South-East begun months ago; and whilst hundreds of new visitors have already commented on the difference, it’s barely the start.
There’s a huge outcry for an outstanding facility in the heart of the county and we are pleased to be well underway with construction on our first floodlit stadia-style 3G playing service for football which will open next month.
In addition to this, we are building a floodlit sand-dressed surface for hockey, netball and other sports and a new squash centre that will include a glass exhibition court.
This means we will be able to offer our current clubs – whilst welcoming many new ones – to enjoy their sport and physical activity on an elite standard surface. With quality facilities as our foundation, we predict K Sports can have a hugely beneficial impact on people’s relationship with sport, and all the social, health and physical benefits synonymously attached.
The new Artificial Grass Pitches (AGPs) will be available to local teams and community groups from Monday to Friday and used for matches and training at the weekend. We cannot wait to finally meet the demand in Kent for a facility like this, welcoming more new faces and creating a diverse and engaging hub for sport in the county.
If you’re yet to pop down to K Sport for a visit, you are certainly very welcome to, you don’t have to be a member!
See you soon then.
