The new Department for International Trade has partnered with the UK’s five major high street banks to create the ‘biggest export directory’ in the UK. Barclays, HSBC, Lloyds, NatWest and Santander will encourage their customers to join the new Directory of Exporters, which will connect UK business owners with contacts from around the world. Potential buyers from global markets will also be able to search the directory for firms and suppliers located across the UK.
The International Trade Secretary, Liam Fox MP, said that the directory is the first step in creating a new digital service to make the UK the easiest place in the world from which to start exporting. Business owners are invited to register their interest in joining the Directory of Exporters ahead of its launch in November 2016.
