Maidstone Borough Council has prepared the Core Strategy Strategic Site
Allocations document for informal public consultation. The document
includes three elements of the Core Strategy Local Plan:

• The inclusion of a new policy for the presumption in favour of sustainable
development;
• The allocation of strategic housing and employment sites; and
• The setting of individual housing targets for the five Rural Services Centres.

The Core Strategy Local Plan covers the borough of Maidstone and sets
out the spatial strategy for the area until 2026. It is the council’s principal planning document.
