EMPLOYMENT LAW – FINDING A WAY THROUGH THE MINEFIELD

Employment law is a minefield. It’s complex and constantly changing which has serious implications for businesses in troubled economic times.

But help is at hand to clarify employment legislation and case law. Regional solicitors Furley Page is presenting three of its popular interactive employment workshops during March and April in partnership with Kent Invicta Chamber of Commerce.

The firm’s employment team, led by partner Andrew Masters, gets top ranking in the latest edition of independent legal guide Chambers UK.

Andrew, personally recognised by Chambers UK as a ‘leader in the field of employment law’, commented: “Our workshops are an important initiative to help employers get to grips with the complexities of employment law – a ‘one-stop shop’ offering advice and solutions.

“It’s crucial that they understand the Government’s current and future programme for employment law and it’s also essential that they have a clear understanding of best HR practice to avoid unnecessary and costly disputes.

“The workshops are open to chamber members and non-members throughout Kent and suited to all firms – regardless of numbers of staff. As well as practical guidance, there will be question and answer sessions so there’s plenty of opportunity for delegates to raise issues. We’ve also absorbed the VAT increase and kept costs the same as the 2010 workshops.”

Joining Andrew are employment lawyers Amanda Okill – also personally recognised by Chambers UK as a leader in the field of employment law; Sian Stubberfield and Melissa Edmond.

The workshops, at the Marriott Tudor Park Hotel & Country Club, Ashford Road, Bearsted, start at 8am and finish at noon. Topics covered include:

Employment Law Update for 2011 – Thursday March 10

Investigating Discipline and Grievances in the Workplace Thursday March 24

Managing Sickness Absence – Thursday April 7

Workshops cost £35 to Kent Invicta Chamber members and £45 to non-members. To book call David Durrance on 01233 503838 or email david@kentinvictachamber.co.uk
