CONSTRUCTION COMPANIES OFFERED FREE ADVICE ON WASTE, ENERGY AND WATER SAVINGS
Remade South East is a specialist in waste reduction and resource efficiency and is offering 10 Small to Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) in the South East the chance to receive a free energy and water audit.
Some grant funding has been secured from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) to encourage construction companies to reduce energy and water consumption on site and to specify sustainable build materials. The project, which runs until June 2013, will assist construction and demolition companies to measure water and energy use and implement improvements to reduce usage. Companies taking part will also be given a greater insight into the range, availability and practical application of alternative building materials and products.
Waste from the construction and demolition sector is the largest single source of waste arisings in England, comprising a third of all waste generated. In order to help businesses to achieve environmental best practice , Remade is supporting construction contractors, architects, waste management companies, demolition contractors and local authorities to minimise their use of natural resources.
Those companies that participate in the project will receive an audit to identify ways to save energy and water and to reduce CO2 emissions on site by 10%. Construction managers who are interested in taking part should call Andrew Kent on 01732 876617 for more details.
This project is part funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) as part of the South East ERDF Competitiveness Programme 2007–2013
