DEMELZA APPOINTS NEW CEO

Steve Hoy
Demelza Hospice care for Children has announced the appointment of its new Chief Executive. Following a national recruitment campaign Steve Hoy has accepted the post to lead the charity forward to the next stage of its development.
“I’m delighted to be offered the opportunity to lead Demelza” said newly appointed Steve Hoy. “The charity has a tremendous reputation for the care and support it provides to young people and their families and it is a privilege to be part of that team.
Steve from Cheshire was until recently Chief Executive of the Connexions company in Cheshire and Warrington where he was responsible for developing a highly innovative and respected company supporting vulnerable young people. In addition Steve was also a Chairman of the National Connexions network.
“One of the things that impressed me most about Demelza is the enthusiasm and dedication of all of the staff. Regardless of role the whole organisation has an amazing buzz in terms of commitment” continued Hoy.
In making this appointment Des Crampton Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Demelza stated how ‘very happy and pleased the Trustees are to make this announcement and that Steve has my 100% backing in moving forward the work of Demelza’.
The charity has grown rapidly over the last few years and now cares for over 700 families with life limiting and life threatened conditions across Kent, South East London and East Sussex. Demelza opened a new hospice in Eltham in South East London in 2009 and launched a £1.3m capital appeal in Sittingbourne last year. The building works will expand the number of bedrooms and see a state of the art hydrotherapy pool. Progress is on track to raise the funds required for this exciting venture. In East Sussex the charity is providing community based support for young people with life threatening and life limiting illnesses.
Steve is married and has a 19 year old daughter and a 15 year old son.
