There are continually new methods by which cybercriminals infect users PC’s and work to steal confidential data, such as banking credentials. The latest story to hit the news is of a new versions of the SpyEye Trojan Horse, which infects a users PC and when the user accesses their online bank account their log in details are stolen. Then, after the criminal has stolen money from the account, “the virus intercepts any further visits to the victim’s banking site and scrubs transaction records clean of any fraud. That prevents — or at least delays — consumers from discovering fraud and reporting it to the bank, buying the fraudster critical extra time to complete the crime.” This was reported three days ago in The RedTape Chronicles.
